Cathy, I'm not sure what you mean by your comment. Do you mean that religion in general is a joke? Or do you mean that the pictures of Muhammed drawn on Everybody Draw Mohammed Day were a joke? Either way, I strongly disagree.
I can't believe you only got 2 comments on this one.
My 2 cents...
If your 'faith in your faith' is so weak that a cartoon causes you more grief than a head shake and a "tsk tsk" then you have a bigger problem than a cartoon.
If there was a "true faith" it should be virtually unassailable. There should be very little anyone can do to shake your beliefs.
The kinds of reactions we have seen to the cartoons demonstrates to me a real lack of confidence in the validity of their beliefs.
Maybe they should be focusing more on why they have such a low confidence level. It might be revealing.
Wait... I think I just realized why they won't take that look.
I read a brief interview with Penn Jillette the other day, in which he stated that he and Teller don't take on Islam on "Bullshit!" because "we have families."
Any religion that would kill a person or condemn them to hell for criticizing their religion is one I want nothing to do with. I guess that would be all of them, wouldn't it?
Well CMPaul, I think I was bringing home the fact that religion is pap, and easy to joke about, it's surely not a joke, it's far too useless biased dogma. FAITH on the other hand, is quite different and something I have, not religion, and glad of it though still growing, learning. Oh my, Beth said something very true - every religion dictates all the others are false. Christianity's got to be the worst - I like Islam! It's so easy to be confused about! When it comes to organized religion I hope to stay thoroughly and utterly disgusted.

"Muhammed" (oops almost called it a comment) stupid fad, will die out like all the other religious jokes.
